The Australian actor, who plays Thor in the forthcoming superhero ensemble movie, insisted that the scene in question was thrilling to film.
"I think we blew 20 cars up in that sequence," Hemsworth told Access Hollywood. "It was one of the biggest things to happen in my life."
Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr, who will reprise his role as Iron Man in the film, told the website that his character will provide the comic relief.
"I crack a couple of jokes, then [Thor] comes in and does all the fighting and sells all the masculinity, then I crack a joke or two and say something highly technological and then we make a good movie," Downey Jr said.
Hemsworth recently revealed that he enjoyed having a much lighter workload filming The Avengers than he did in his first Marvel Studios outing Thor, saying that the ensemble cast allowed the actors to relax a bit more.
In July, the actor revealed that tensions will be high in The Avengers, suggesting that fans can look forward to a confrontation between Hemsworth's Norse god and Chris Evans's Captain America.
The Avengers is currently in production and will open in US and UK cinemas on May 4, 2012.
