Director Fernando Meirelles's film portrays a series of interconnected relationships across the globe in a single narrative. The story begins in Vienna before moving on to Paris, London, Bratislava, Rio, Denver and Phoenix.
Anthony Hopkins and Ben Foster co-star in 360, which Oscar-nominated screenwriter Peter Morgan adapted from Arthur Schnitzler's play.
360 marks a return to the London Film Festival for Meirelles, whose The Constant Gardener opened the festival in 2005.
"In the past decade I've been to the BFI London Film Festival six times, some of them as a guest, and some as part of the audience," the Brazilian filmmaker said. "I am very honoured that 360, an intimate film that talks about our options in life, has been chosen to open the festival this year."

Hebron will step down from her role after being with the BFI Festival's department since 1997.
The BFI London Film Festival runs from October 12-27.
