The Hunger Games director Gary Ross has promised a "hugely epic" and "powerful" adaptation of Suzanne Collins's best-selling science-fiction novel.
Ross told MTV that the teaser video released at this weekend's MTV VMAs showed only brief footage of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen because the film is still in production.
"We could only give you a little bit because we're still down here making the movie," he said. "There's a lot of things to come that I think are going to be hugely epic and very emotional and incredibly powerful."

Discussing the teaser video's voiceover, which comes from Liam Hemsworth's character Gale Hawthorne, Ross added: "I think, as everyone knows, Gale is an enormous part of Katniss's life.
"He's not as big a part of the first book. But he's very present, and very important... he's in her head, he's in her life, he's something that echoes with her throughout the Games."
The Hunger Games, which also stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz and Stanley Tucci, will open in cinemas on March 2012.
