The Art of Getting By actress told Metro that she is happy to mix Hollywood parts and more indie jobs.
Roberts said: "I just pick what I like. I don't care if you're making a movie for a billion dollars or one dollar.
"I'm such a sucker for romantic comedies, so I really want to make a really romantic comedy at some point."
Of going into the same career as her Oscar-winning aunt Julia Roberts, she added: "Nobody encouraged me to get into acting. I always wanted to do it - at home everyone would not talk about it, hoping I would forget.
"I loved going to set. You would have to drag me off. I would always be doing people's hair and make-up. I remember I was on Erin Brockovich a lot."
Emma has previously said that Julia does not give her career advice and that her family connections have not helped her career.
Of starring as Johnny Depp's daughter in 2001 George Jung biopic Blow, Emma said: "I thought he was just the nicest person. I had no idea who he was."
