Home of Metal has announced the Metal on Film season.

The Midlands event explores heavy metal music through a series of screenings, exhibitions, live events and other activities.

Short films, music documentaries and archive footage will be shown for free on the newly-restored Vintage Mobile Cinema at various destinations.

There will be further film screenings at venues including the Light House and The Public in West Bromwich.

The Roots of Metal exhibition takes place at The Public from September 2-4, at the Black Country Living Museum from September 3-4 and the Dudley Museum and Art Gallery until September 25.

"Metal on Film is a season of documentaries, rare archive, late-night horror and special guests," organisers said.

"The eclectic programme will celebrate the genre's celluloid highlights, from rare television and live footage right through to cult classics like This Is Spinal Tap and Heavy Metal Parking Lot."

The full programme of events is available on the Home of Metal website.
