Focus Film's new drama-thriller has grossed an estimated $958,670 (£592,500) since its Wednesday launch, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The performance was similar to Focus's The Constant Gardener, which grossed $929,000 (£574,100) with its midweek opening in 2005.
The Debt was directed by John Madden and is a remake of Assaf Bernstein's Israeli film of the same name, which was released in 2007.
It follows the tale of ex-Mossad agent Rachel Singer (Mirren) as she pursues a Nazi war criminal three decades after he initially slipped through her grasp.
The film also stars Sam Worthington, Ciaran Hinds and Tom Wilkinson.
