Wasikowska, who stars in this week's Jane Eyre, appears opposite Close in the upcoming period drama Albert Nobbs.
The movie, co-written by Close, takes place in 19th century Ireland and centres on a woman with no husband who disguises herself as a man to work as a butler.
Wasikowska told Digital Spy: "I'm really excited for that film... It's a really original film. It's not like anything that I can compare it to. It's very different, she [Close] is fantastic."

She continued: "When you're acting with her, she makes you better. She makes you be better. She's really tough, in the best way. She's just one of those people you want to be better around."
Asked if she thought Close could achieve an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Albert, the Alice in Wonderland star replied: "I have no idea, I hope it does really well. I'm excited for it."
