Tom Hiddleston: 'Loki is gangster in Avengers'

Tom Hiddleston has outlined the changes that Loki will undergo in The Avengers.

The actor told MTV News that fans can expect a "more gangster" version of the character in Marvel Studios' superhero team-up movie.

Hiddleston said: "It's kind of, what's the right word… it's more gangster. If in Thor he was an Asgardian prince, in The Avengers he's an Asgardian pirate. It's evolved. It takes into account between the end of Thor and the beginning of Avengers, [that] he's been around."

Avengers features an all-star cast of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

New pictures from the set of the film recently appeared online.

The Avengers arrives in cinemas on May 4, 2012.
