According to the sequel's producer Bernie Goldmann, small parts have been written into the film's script allowing the actors to reprise their roles as King Leonidas and Queen Gorgo.
"It's a different story," Goldmann told Fandango. "[But] there is a small part for Lena [Headey]. There's a small part for Gerry [Butler]."
Goldmann went on to reveal the film is likely to feature unknown actors in the lead roles, to ensure the experience is authentic.
"When you make a period movie like that, it's great not to know the actors," Goldmann explained. "For me, as an audience, it always brings me into the movie more.
"You can't see Tom Cruise in a historial movie. You go, 'That's Tom Cruise!'"
300: Battle of Artemisia, originally titled Xerses, will be directed by Noam Murro with a script by Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad.
A release date has yet to be announced for 300: Artemisia.
