'Cars' wins US box office race

Cars effortlessly cruised to the top of the US box office over the weekend, displacing The Break-Up from the top spot.
Despite taking a healthy $62.8m, this does not stand it in good stead in comparison to the previous two Pixar offerings, with both The Incredibles and Finding Nemo grossing in excess of $70m in their opening weekends.
Also debuting over the weekend were horror remake The Omen and A Prairie Home Companion.

3. (2) X-Men: The Last Stand - $15.55m
4. (-) The Omen - $15.50m
5. (3) Over the Hedge - $10.30m
6. (4) The Da Vinci Code - $10.30m

8. (5) Mission: Impossible III - $3.04m
9. (7) RV - $2.00m
10. (6) Poseidon - $1.84m
