The musician, whose real name is Clarence Sims, shot to fame in the '60s and '70s after working as a pimp in San Francisco. Slim was dubbed 'The West Coast Godfather of the Game' and 'The Pope of Pimping'.
Shelly Liebowitz, Wayne Anderson and Alan Ames are among the producers on The Legend of Slim. Ames is also writing the script with Carole Parker, reports Deadline.
"This film will span decades, from Slim's emergence as a musician, to his fascination with the fast life, through his years of incarceration and his redemption," said Ames.
Sims has released several albums, most recently 2010's The Blues Playa's Ball, and is still touring at the age of 76.
Snoop Dogg has previously starred in the movies Starsky & Hutch and Training Day.
