Nathan Lane joins 'The English Teacher'

Nathan Lane has signed up to comedy drama The English Teacher.

The Broadway star will be joining Julianne Moore and Greg Kinnear in the independent feature, Variety reports.

Lane, who last appeared in The Nutcracker in 3D, plays a drama teacher who assists a failed playwright and former pupil who returns to his hometown.

Moore will play the title role, under the direction of Weeds and The Big C helmer Craig Zisk. He will be directing from a script by screenwriting duo Dan and Stacy Chariton, with production expected to begin in October.

Lane, who is best known for starring in the Broadway production of The Producers, will next be seen in Tarsem Singh's adaptation of Snow White. He will play Julia Robert's Evil Queen's servant in the update of the Grimm fairy tale.

Lane's other film work includes The Birdcage, Isn't She Great and Austin Powers in Goldmember.
