The Oscar-winning director described cinema as a "young" art form.
He explained to The AP: "Cinema itself is a just a magical and intoxicating medium and it's very young, so you realise that you're working in the cinema in the first 110 years of its existence. So, there's so much more to be discovered."
Coppola also discussed his new film Twixt, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The director commented that it was important to inject some comedy into Twixt's dark tale of a writer who is haunted by Edgar Allen Poe's ghost..
"It's a very unusual film," Coppola said. "It tries to tell this tale, [that's] partly based on a dream and yet be enjoyable, be funny where it's appropriate to be funny. It's an eerie story and it sort of took hold of me."

Coppola previously claimed that he wants to take Twixt on national tour on a series of live screenings before its official release in order to gauge audience reactions.
