The World War Z director revealed that part of the reason he joined the zombie adaptation was to get the chance to work with the Moneyball star.
Forster told MTV News: "I was really intrigued by the book [by Max Brooks]... I always wanted to work with [Pitt]. I think he is an incredible actor and he is an inspiring collaborator."
He continued: "If you look at his filmography, he has incredibly good taste. The choices he makes - he's very smart about it."
Forster went on to say that he has faith in the big screen adaptation.
"You want to try to avoid the cliché, try to make something interesting that hasn't been done before, and I felt [Pitt] was the right collaborator for that," he added.
Pitt recently described the filming of Interview with the Vampire as a "miserable" experience, dismissing his iconic character Louis de Pointe du Lac as a "bitch role".
The actor reportedly rescued an extra from being trampled on while filming World War Z in Glasgow last month.
