The December 2 release of the final film in the Harry Potter series was announced yesterday, with the DVD and a new eight-film collection box set being made available for pre-order.
Amazon has confirmed that the David Yates-directed finale achieved the most pre-orders for any DVD and Blu-ray product on the first day of pre-order release. The figures were four times higher than those recorded for Deathly Hallows: Part 1 during the first 24 hours.
"The final instalment of the Harry Potter films was always going to be an immensely popular title with many fans keen to complete their collection, but the demand was incredible with pre-orders overtaking those for Part 1 in just five hours," John Boumphrey, director of DVD and Music at Amazon, said.
"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is shaping up to be a huge title and with more than two months to go until release it is set to challenge Mamma Mia! as the most pre-ordered DVD and Blu-ray of all time."

Various bonus features on the upcoming release include 'A Conversation with JK Rowling and Daniel Radcliffe', 'Maximum Movie Mode', an exclusive behind-the-scenes look in 'When Harry Left Hogwarts' and various deleted scenes.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is released on November 11 in the US, and in the UK on December 2.
