Rose Byrne 'based Bridesmaids character on friend'

Rose Byrne has said that a friend provided the inspiration for her Bridesmaids character.

The Damages star confessed that the friend in question actually recognised the resemblance between her and Byrne's Helen.

"I had one girlfriend who saw the movie and she said, 'That was me. Did you base your character on me?'" Byrne recalled.

The actress went on to say that her friend was amused by Byrne's take on her.

"Well, just the polished quality of Helen is based off of a girlfriend of mine," Byrne said. "She was laughing about it though. She saw herself in Helen. She saw the polish and the very put-together quality that she has. That's something I had thought about."

Byrne recently revealed that she does not know if an X-Men: First Class sequel will happen, saying that she would be happy to return for a follow-up.

In July, the actress described her changed role on the show Damages as "daunting", claiming that the change has helped re-invent the DirecTV series.
