The Tower Heist actor is currently in talks to play Gabriel in the big-screen adaptation of John Milton's epic poem, according to Variety.
The Hangover's Bradley Cooper will play fallen angel Lucifer in the Legendary Pictures movie, with Djimon Hounsou portraying angel of death Abdiel and Benjamin Walker in the role of archangel Michael.
Alex Proyas (I, Robot, The Crow) is directing Paradise Lost. The script has been written by a team including Exam director Stuart Hazeldine and The Bodyguard screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan.
Diego Boneta (Pretty Little Liars, Rock of Ages) and Camilla Belle (10,000 BC, Push) are reportedly in contention for the roles of Adam and Eve.
Milton's original blank verse poem was first published in 1677 in ten volumes.
Paradise Lost is currently in pre-production. Principal photography is slated to begin in Sydney in January 2012 ahead of a planned release in 2013.
