Clive Owen has revealed that he does his own stunt work in films.

The Killer Elite star insisted that performing more difficult physical scenes in the movie without the help of a body double or stuntman is important to ensure authenticity.

Owen told Parade in a new interview: "I think it's important because it's acting. I don't want someone else doing that for me. The intent and intensity, the stakes of something like that is an acting thing and you want to do that.

"That's the beauty of doing those fight scenes with [co-star Jason Statham]. He's so technically good and gifted in that area. I feel I'm pretty technical too and approach those scenes like any other. You want to make them believable and make sense."

Owen continued: "They've got to feel real. You choreograph them and work it out to make sure you feel comfortable with everything and then you try and make them as believable as possible."

Statham recently described Killer Elite as a thinking man's action movie.

Killer Elite is out now in US and UK cinemas.
