He will be joining Tom Cruise and Rosamund Pike in an adaptation of the ninth novel in the Jack Reacher series, according to Variety.
One Shot centres on a former military policeman who finds that a random series of murders by a sniper might be connected to a greater political force.
Jenkins is expected to play the district attorney who prosecutes the gunman.
Christopher McQuarrie is directing what is expected to be the first in a franchise based on the series.
McQuarrie and Cruise previously worked together on Valkyrie and The Monster of Florence.
The Friends with Benefits star has also previously been in Six Feet Under, Let Me In and Eat Pray Love.
Jenkins will next be seen in Bruce Robinson's adaptation of The Rum Diary, which also stars Johnny Depp, Amber Heard and Giovanni Ribisi.
