The Wolverine X-Men actor also revealed that he was excited by the props in the forthcoming movie.
"[Steven] found with Jurassic Park that the more real elements you can have, the better it is," he told ET. "It turned me into an 11-year-old when I first saw them."
Meanwhile, Jackman also praised trainer Sugar Ray Leonard, saying: "He gave me way more than I could've imagined. He taught me about what the life of a boxer is like."
Jackman recently revealed that he enjoyed being "heavier" than usual while filming the sci-fi movie.
Spielberg's Real Steel opens in UK and US cinemas on October 7.
