Screenwriter Damon Lindelof also revealed that the Alien prequel has been inspired by Blade Runner.
He told MTV: "[Michael Fassbender] plays a robot. One of the things that evokes the idea of Blade Runner is, 'What does the movie look like from the robot's point of view?'
"If you were to ask him, 'What do you think about all of this? What's going on? What do you think about these humans who are around you?', wouldn't it be cool if we found a way for that robot to answer those questions.
"When you cast a guy like Fassbender, who's going to bring a lot more to it than [makes clichéd robot movements] - that was me doing the robot, I don't know if you could tell - it's not Anthony Daniels. All due respect. He's phenomenal. But C-P3O…"
The writer also revealed that Charlize Theron will take on the role of a corporate figure who is a spin on Paul Reiser's character in Aliens.
However, Lindelof added that Ridley Scott has exerted the most influence over the script.
He said: "It was really about channelling that idea so that I was realising his vision, as opposed to imposing my vision on it."
Sigourney Weaver recently claimed that Scott was inspired by her suggestions for the film.
In June, Lindelof explained the connection between the upcoming film and Alien. He said that the film will have a completely different setting and completely different characters, despite being considered a prequel.
Michael Fassbender is also rumoured to be in line for the titular role in the planned reboot of Robocop.
