The Action Comics scribe told The Daily Record that he will start work on the project after completing the script for Barry Sonnenfeld's Dinosaurs Vs Aliens.
Rogue was created by Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons in 1981. The genetically modified soldier's self-titled strip has appeared in 2000AD ever since. He is considered to be the anthology's most recognisable character after Judge Dredd.
Rogue Trooper takes place on the war-torn planet Nu-Earth, where the Norts and Southers are locked in perpetual conflict. The story follows the last surviving member of the Southers' Genetic Infantry on a mission to track down the general who betrayed him.
Sam Worthington's production company Full Clip Productions is helming the adaptation. Rumours suggest that the actor could be in line for the lead role of Rogue.
Full Clip Productions was previously attached to comic adaptations Damaged and Last Days of American Crime.
