Werner Herzog to play villain in Tom Cruise's 'One Shot'

The Rescue Dawn director will step in front of the camera to play the villain in the forthcoming adaptation of the 2005 Lee Child novel, according to Variety.
One Shot centres on an ex-Army police officer named Jack Reacher who becomes involved in the case of a sniper who is accused of killing five people in a shooting.
Herzog will portray a character known as The Zec, an ex-prisoner of war who is behind the killings.
Herzog joins confirmed cast members Tom Cruise and Rosamund Pike.
Pike recently called Child's series of Jack Reacher novels "electrifying", describing Reacher as a modern-day hero.
One Shot is slated to begin filming in Pittsburgh in the autumn.
