'Scream' originals to be killed off in next entry?

All four films in the series have starred Neve Campbell as protagonist Sidney Prescott alongside David Arquette as Dewey Riley and Courteney Cox as Gail Weathers. However, Craven has said that he is considering getting rid of one of them in the next film.
"At some point I suggested perhaps we should [kill one of them] to sort of send it into the next era, this era," Craven explained to IGN Movies. "And I think it was Bob [Weinstein] that just didn't want to do it.
"And I wasn't anxious to have [Sidney] dead because frankly, she's a great actress," he continued. "But I suspect the next time out, one or more of those characters is going to have to die."
Craven has previously confirmed that a fifth Scream film is in the works, but has said that he is in no rush to get started on it.
