Pete Travis (Vantage Point) has not been involved in the current editing phase of the movie, reports Los Angeles Times.
Sources have claimed that writer-producer Alex Garland has taken the lead after producers and executives were displeased by the footage that Travis was delivering for the Karl Urban-starring film.
It has been suggested that Garland might receive a co-director credit for his work at this stage of Judge Dredd's development.
There is also a possibility that the movie may require some reshoots before its completion.
The Judge Dredd character is one of the most popular properties from long-running British anthology comic 2000 AD.
It was subject to a critically-panned movie adaptation starring Sylvester Stallone in 1995.
