The actor, who played Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride, warned that a new version of the 1987 fantasy film would be a bad idea.
"I hope I'm dead before that happens," Patinkin told Entertainment Weekly.
Patinkin went on joke that even discussing a new version of The Princess Bride makes him very nervous.
"I don't want to have to go through [a remake]. Be careful what you even say," the star added.
Billy Crystal joked, however, that he would love a spinoff for his and Carol Kane's Princess Bride characters Miracle Max and Valerie.
"There should be a Max and Valerie movie. Start a Twitter thing - 'We want more Max and Valerie.' Now we won't need as much make-up," the comic said.
Crystal's Princess Bride co-stars Cary Elwes, Robin Wright and Chris Sarandon reunited to commemorate the movie's upcoming 25th anniversary with a cover shoot for the magazine and an appearance on Good Morning America this week.
