The actor is perhaps most well known for his roles in Finding Forrester and Coach Carter.
Brown has signed up for a currently unknown role in the Christopher Nolan-directed Batman trilogy, according to Variety.
Filming for the movie moved from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles in September, where leaked on-set videos showed a large car pile-up in a tunnel.
Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard and Michael Caine will star in The Dark Knight Rises, to be released in theatres on July 20, 2012.
