Screenwriter Michael Alan Rubin has launched legal action against Warner Bros and the comedy's filmmakers, believing that the script was based on his own screenplay, reports EW.
He claims his script, titled Mickey and Kirin, was inspired by his own experiences in Asia after divorcing from his Japanese wife.
Rubin stated that The Hangover: Part II was "copied from the treatment... and also from the real-life incident of the plaintiff, because the protagonist in Hangover II travels from the United States to an Asian country to marry his Asian girlfriend".
The writer is also suing on defamation and fraud charges, believing that Ed Helms's character paints him in a bad light.
Rubin accused his former wife Tamayo Otsuki of leaking his story.
A separate lawsuit was filed against the movie earlier this year when a tattoo artist claimed that the face art on Ed Helms's face infringed copyright on a design that he had created for Mike Tyson.
The case was settled before the comedy's DVD release.
