The Trespass actor will appear alongside Veronica Ferres in German production group Bavariapool's forthcoming psycho thriller, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Cage will play Paul, a reclusive author who befriends a drifter called Jack, with deadly consequences.
The film is the first English-language project from Bavariapool. It is based on the French TV movie Papillon Noir, which starred Stephane Freiss and former footballer Eric Cantona as Jack.

Bavariapool will co-produce the film with the Los Angeles-based Paradox Entertainment.
Shooting on Black Butterfly is scheduled to start in early 2012 in Eastern Germany.
