The Oscar-winning film is to be turned into a play for Disney Theatrical productions, which also has Hairspray director Jack O'Brien attached to the project, reports Variety.
Shakespeare in Love revolves around playwright William Shakespeare and Viola de Lesseps, a daughter of a wealthy merchant who wants to act during a time when women are banned from performing on stage.
She disguises herself as a man to audition for Romeo and Juliet and ends up getting cast as the male lead Romeo.
Joseph Fiennes played Shakespeare opposite Gwyneth Paltrow as de Lesseps. Paltrow won 'Best Actress' at the Academy Awards for her role in the 1998 film.
Stoppard's latest screenplay is the movie adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's love story Anna Karenina. Jude Law and Keira Knightley are confirmed to star in Anna Karenina.
Last year, Stoppard adapted a Ford Madox Ford novel for the BBC.
