Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson discuss 'Adventures of Tintin' - video

The Adventures of Tintin director Steven Spielberg and producer Peter Jackson have discussed bringing Hergé's cartoon creation to the big screen in a new promotional video.

Spielberg revealed that he was led to the character during promotion for his first Indiana Jones film.

"My first exposure to Hergé's Tintin was in French coverage of Raiders of the Lost Ark, this particular critic kept referencing a series of books called Tintin," he said.

"So I became fascinated and asked to see a book and discovered Hergé for the first time."

Jackson's visual effects company Weta helped bring the movie to life, with the Lord of the Rings director - a life-long Tintin fan - standing in for Captain Haddock in early test footage.

Jamie Bell, Daniel Craig, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost star in the movie, which is written by British trio Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn will open in UK cinemas on October 26 and December 21 in the US.
