Director Robert Rodriguez revealed at Comic-Con International this year that the sequel's script was now completed and filming could begin by the end of the year, although Miller claimed that spring 2012 is a more realistic start date.
"Sin City 2 is primarily an adaptation of the book A Dame to Kill For," Miller told MTV. "It also features the short story Just Another Saturday Night and two new stories."
"One involving Jessica Alba's character, Nancy Callahan, that I came up with for the movie in order to tie things together and make it be more united with the first."
The 2005 film featured Mickey Rourke as Marv and Jessica Alba as Nancy Callahan, although it is unknown whether the actors will return for the proposed sequel.
The graphic novel for A Dame To Kill For also features characters played in the film by Rosario Dawson, Devon Aoki and Michael Clarke Duncan.
Alba recently starred in Sin City director Robert Rodriguez's latest film Sky Kids 4: All the Time in the World.
In 2008, Rourke admitted he had no interest in reprising his role in a potential sequel.
