According to Variety, Ubisoft Motion Pictures is reaching a deal to have Sony adapt and distribute the film after an intense bidding war.
Assassin's Creed was released in 2007 and has gone on to spawn two sequels with a third, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, due to be released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in December.
The series follows modern-day protagonist Desmond Miles as he is forced to relive the memories of his ancestors, who were all assassins, in an effort to locate rare artifacts.
Sony is also said to be developing motion pictures based on the Uncharted and Infamous game franchises.
