Michael Shannon has confirmed that Man of Steel will feature a showdown between his villain General Zod and Russell Crowe's Jor-El.
The Oscar-nominated Take Shelter star told Digital Spy that he and Crowe, who plays Superman's Kryptonian father, put in a lot of prep work for what will be a short confrontation in Zack Snyder's superhero movie.

Shannon said: "We do have a fight sequence in the film. We worked on it for a long time, we rehearsed it for a long time, then you shoot it and it's done. It's kind of strange to put all this work into something that's going to be maybe a minute long [on film]."
The Boardwalk Empire actor added that he finds it difficult to compare Henry Cavill's portrayal of Superman to Christopher Reeve's as he hasn't spent much time on set with him.
"I've shot exactly one scene with Henry so far. We have a lot together, we just haven't shot it yet," Shannon revealed.
He continued: "He seems very appropriate for the part, he's a big fella and he's very handsome and charming, so it's certainly understandable why they cast him. But I'll always have a soft spot for Christopher Reeve."
Shannon's new movie Take Shelter, directed by Jeff Nichols and co-starring Jessica Chastain, opens in UK cinemas on November 25.
