The British Board of Film Classification today (October 27) granted the first instalment of the Twilight finale a 12A certificate for its content.
The movie also clocks in with a running time of 117 minutes, making it the shortest film in the saga. Twilight ran for 121 mins, its 2009 sequel New Moon was 130 mins long and Eclipse totalled 123 mins.
Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn novel sees chaste couple Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) getting married and consummating their union while on honeymoon in Brazil.
The book's depiction of sex, a bloody birth and werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner) "imprinting" on Bella's child Renesmee has led fans to speculate on how director Bill Condon will handle the explicit material on screen.
Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg previously said that Breaking Dawn's content will be toned down for the movie adaptations.
She explained: "For me it's actually more interesting to not see it. You know, you can do childbirth without seeing childbirth... it doesn't mean it's any less evocative of an experience."
