Kristen Wiig joins Sean Penn's 'The Comedian'

The Saturday Night Live star will play Harmony, "a dazzling and defiant redhead", in Sean Penn's next directorial effort, Entertainment Weekly reports.
The Comedian, which stars Robert De Niro as the titular character, follows an ageing stand-up comic who is sentenced to do community service after hitting an audience member with a microphone.
Martin Scorsese was rumoured to be helming the drama before Penn joined the project.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Wiig was considering leaving Saturday Night Live at the end of its current season in May 2012.
In September, Jon Hamm suggested that Wiig is unlikely to take part in a Bridesmaids sequel
Filming on The Comedian is expected to begin in spring 2012.
