The Expendables 2 studio has released an official statement about the recent death of a stuntman on the action movie set last Thursday.

It was originally reported that Jet Li and Sylvester Stallone's stunt doubles were involved in the accident, but it has now been confirmed that the incident took place on the Second Unit set over two hours away from the main Expendables 2 set in Bansko Village in Bulgaria.

The artist who died was Kun Lieu, while Nuo Sun was severely injured in the explosion.

The official statement from Nu Image and Millennium Films read: "Our deepest condolences go to the family of Kun Lieu. His passing is tragic.

"Our sympathies also go to Nuo Sun who was seriously injured as a result of the same explosion. We have been informed his condition has stabilised. He has been transported to Munich, Germany, where he is receiving top medical care from the best specialists."

Second Unit filming has been temporarily suspended, but will reportedly resume shortly, while Main Unit production has not been interrupted.

The Expendables 2 is scheduled for release in August next year.
