Peter Jackson has released a new video update on The Hobbit.

In the ten-minute production clip posted on his Facebook page, Jackson talks about the 3D technology used on the movie.

"Shooting The Hobbit in 3D is a dream come true," Jackson said. "If I had the ability to shoot Lord of the Rings in 3D I certainly would have done it.

"On The Lord of the Rings, I had a 3D camera taking 3D photographs. Hopefully one day, maybe even on 3D Blu-ray, we might be able to show you the 3D photos from ten or 12 years ago."

The Hobbit will be released as two separate movies. The first, titled The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, will debut on December 14, 2012, followed by the release of The Hobbit: There and Back Again on December 13, 2013.

The first film will receive its world premiere in Wellington, New Zealand in November 2012.
