Emergency services workers have been warned of the dangers of watching Oliver Stone's upcoming movie World Trade Centre.

Firefighters and policemen who risked their lives on September 11, 2001 have been invited to special advance screenings of the movie, which stars Nicolas Cage and Michael Pena as two cops trapped in the remains of the WTC.

However, the emergency services' union has urged caution, since reliving the events through the film could bring on post-traumatic stress disorder.

WENN quotes producer Michael Shamberg as saying: "Emotionally, it's important that these men and women have the opportunity to see the film first, though only if they feel comfortable."

The pressure is on Stone to deliver a respectful take on the events of the day, the target being set by Paul Greengrass' recent United 93, a film starring predominantly unknown actors which was widely praised for its sensitive handling of the subject matter.
