During an appearance on NBC's Today this morning, co-anchor Ann Curry told Lautner that she had seen the movie and joked that his shirt was off within three minutes of him coming on screen.
When asked if he ever "got shy", he replied: "Of course! But I'm lucky in this one because I'm shirtless much less than Rob and Kristen are! I was happy to hand it over to them."
Lautner went on to say: "This is my favourite movie because it's different from the other ones in tone. My character grows up and becomes a lot more mature, he's dealing with a lot. This was an exciting one for me as an actor."
The actor also spoke about joining Pattinson and Stewart in leaving their hand and footprints on the sidewalk outside the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles last week.
"It was one of the most surreal experiences yet," he said.
When Curry then pointed out that most people had to wait years to get such an honour, he replied: "I can't even explain how fortunate we are, it was insane!"
Lautner previously admitted that he had been "nervous" at the ceremony, revealing that he hadn't realised it would be attended by hundreds of fans.
"For some reason I thought the three of us would go to a private room and there would be a slab of wet cement there and we'd do it privately and then they'd put it out there. I didn't think it would be a big deal!" he told Jimmy Kimmel this week.
"They didn't even tell me I was getting my footprints!" he said. "I was really confused and there were helicopters and the street was shut down which made me even more nervous."
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 will be released in cinemas worldwide from November 18.
