Michelle Pfeiffer joins 'Hairspray' cast

What Lies Beneath star Michelle Pfeiffer is the latest big name to be cast in the film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Hairspray.
According to Variety, the actress will play Velma von Tussel, a television producer embittered by her experiences since giving up her crown as a beauty queen.
Pfeiffer has starred in several other musical roles during her screen career, including Grease 2 and The Fabulous Baker Boys.
Filming is scheduled to start in September, with a cast including John Travolta, Queen Latifah and Amanda Bynes.
