Ever since Douglas Fairbanks and William C deMille hosted the first Academy Awards in 1929, some of Hollywood's most talented performers have taken to the stage to honour the best the world of movies has to offer.
The likes of Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Steve Martin and Hugh Jackman have all overseen the Oscars in past years, and the hunt is on for a new compere following the abrupt departure of Eddie Murphy.
