Warner Bros arrange 'Doom Patrol'
Published Thursday, Jul 20 2006, 10:55 BST | By Daniel Saney
Adam Turner will pen an adaptation of DC Comics' Doom Patrol for the big screen.
Often compared to Marvel's X-Men, the comics, conceived in the 1960s, followed a gang of super-powered freaks shunned by the rest of society. Like Professor X's posse in the Marvel stories, the Doom Patrol is fronted by a leader in a wheelchair.
Producer Akiva Goldsman told Daily Variety: "These are some of the most original, offbeat comicbook characters we have ever come across, and Adam Turner's unique sensibility makes him a perfect fit for the material."
