'Twilight: Breaking Dawn' tops Australian box office

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 has topped the Australian box office in its first week at the cinema.

The next instalment of the Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson vampire movie broke records by making more than $12 million in ticket sales, knocking last week's number one Moneyball down to second place.

In Time, which stars Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried, sits in third spot after taking $769,850 in ticket sales, followed by Midnight in Paris with $486,331.

Sarah Jessica Parker's I Don't Know How She Does It remains in the top ten in fifth place, while The Debt and Drive both jump up from the bottom of the list to fill the sixth and seventh spots respectively.

Other films included in the top ten are Contagion and Paranormal Activity 3.
