Mike Huber was working a high-powered scissor lift to tear down the set when the machine tipped over and he sustained fatal injuries, reports TMZ.
Huber was said to be a local hired to work on the production in New Orleans for the GI Joe sequel.
"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the [crew member's] family at this time," Paramount said in a statement.
The studio continued: "The safety of our cast and crew is our top priority and the studio is fully co-operating with all investigating agencies as they examine the circumstances surrounding this unusual accident."
Last month, a stuntman died on the set of the action movie The Expendable 2.
