The Hour star, who appeared opposite Daniel Craig in 2004's Layer Cake, was confirmed as part of the Skyfall cast at the recent 007 launch press conference. However, director Sam Mendes declined to reveal which character Whishaw would play.
The British actor will be the third star to take on the part of Q in the Eon Bond franchise following on from Desmond Llewelyn and John Cleese.

The Office and Extras co-creator Stephen Merchant recently admitted that he wanted to play Q in the James Bond series.
Skyfall, co-starring Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris and Javier Bardem, will open in cinemas in October 2012.
