Michelle Williams to receive Palm Springs Film Festival honour

Williams will be given the festival's Desert Palm Achievement Actress Award in recognition of her performance as Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn.
Palm Springs International Film Festival chairman Harold Matzner praised Williams as one of the most accomplished actresses of her era, saying: "Every generation, the cinema has a few performers who mesmerise audiences with an exceptional blend of talent, versatility and grace.
"Michelle Williams epitomises these qualities as she continues to accept challenging role after challenging role."
Natalie Portman and Charlize Theron have received the Desert Palm Achievement Actress Award in previous years.
George Clooney and Glenn Close will also receive honorary awards at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on January 7.
My Week with Marilyn is now playing in US and UK cinemas.
