Kurt Russell is the latest star to join the cast of Quentin Tarantino's new slasher film Death Proof.
The iconic director made the announcement at the recent Comic-Con convention in San Diego.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tarantino said: "I've always wanted to work with Kurt Russell. One of the things that was so great about his John Carpenter movies is the fact that there are a lot of serious actors who wouldn't do them. There's a playfulness about him going that way."
Russell will play the character of Stunt Man Mike in the movie, which is the second half of a double feature Tarantino is working on with Sin City director Robert Rodriguez.
Death Proof will also feature Zoe Bell, Rosario Dawson, Vanessa Ferlito, Jordan Ladd and Sydney Tamiia Poitier, among others. The film is due to be released in April next year.
