'John Carter' - Disney's new sci-fi epic: First look pictures

The sci-fi action film stars Taylor Kitsch as an American Civil War veteran who is transported to Mars and becomes a prisoner. He escapes and meets Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins), a leader of a nation at war with others on the planet.
John Carter, which marks WALL-E director Andrew Stanton's live-action debut, also features Willem Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church, Samantha Morton, James Purefoy, Dominic West, Bryan Cranston and Mark Strong.

Kitsch has previously expressed his excitement about the upcoming movie, saying: "[I'm] over the moon. It's going to be a good ride. I'm pumped."
John Carter is based on the first novel of Edgar Rice Burroughs's 11-volume Barsoom series, titled A Princess of Mars.
The new trailer for John Carter will be released on December 1, while the film itself opens on March 9, 2012.
