The actor, who appeared in the 2009 film revival, reprises his role as Spock in sequel Star Trek 2, which begins filming in January.
Quinto told Total Film: "I know that the story they're concocting is going to be as exciting and dynamic as the first one, if not more so.
"But all that hi-tech stuff - head casting, casting my ears - is pretty overwhelming."
The 34-year-old revealed that shooting indie thriller Margin Call was more enjoyable due to its "humanity".
"Margin Call was particularly gratifying because it didn't involve any of that. It wasn't about green screens or laser beams or prosthetic ears. It was much more about humanity," Quinto continued.
The star added: "I thrive when I'm busy. The busier the better for me. I'm not in a good headspace when I'm idle."
